An invasive plant it trying to capitalize on the conditions.
When we can identify the one or multiple roles an invasive plant is serving in the local habitat, we can make in informed decision about which native plants can succeed in that site.

How does regeneration differ from sustainability?
My favorite subject is what makes a design “regenerative”, because it’s a very instinctual definition, which simply means to “return to growth”.

Regenerative design integrates ecological and economical planting, with the practical application of best maintenance practices to conserve native biodiversity, soil, and rainwater.
Finding the elemental root of landscape imbalances and focusing efforts to balance the soil-food-web is what sustains the regenerative initiatives. For our landscapes to simply regrow within balanced designs and proper input from people/stewards is what nature intended with it’s unrelenting regeneration.
Sustainability comes in when we integrate trends in culture, social classes, and personal preferences that make up human value systems.

The current trends use “sustainability” to convey a closed-loop and emphasis on self-sufficiency.
The ability to be sustainable, is a quality that is too subjective to not be considered holistically every time.
